Rochester, NEW YORK (October 17, 2023) – AMETEK Power Instruments is pleased to announce Tony Bell, Power Line Carrier Product Manager, is the new chair of the Power Line Carrier subcommittee for the IEEE Power and Energy Society’s Power System Communications and Cybersecurity Committee (PSCCC). Bell was appointed the chair in September 2023 and will serve as the committee chair for three years.
IEEE’s core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity, while the PSCCC is focused on providing scientific and engineering information on electrical power and energy for the betterment of society. As the Power Line Carrier (PLC) subcommittee chair, Bell will oversee four key areas including studying and reviewing engineering, operational and testing aspects for specific power line carrier applications as they apply to the Electric Power System and then developing and maintaining the related standards, recommended practices and guides. Bell will oversee all the IEEE PLC working groups, one of which he also chairs. In this working group, he oversees the PLC Application Guide, which is currently working to revise this existing guide for the industry. In addition, he is a member of the working group for the hybrids/line tuner standard. Previously he was the vice chair of the working group for the PLC Transmitter/Receiver standard.
Bell has held numerous power line carrier positions with AMETEK Power Instruments and prior Pulsar Technologies before their 2006 acquisition to AMETEK. He’s been working on our power line carriers for 30 years and has been in the industry for more than 40 years.
