AMETEK Power Instruments offers a family of fault recorders, which includes our advanced multi-functional digital TR-3000 and DR-300 fault recorders. Both are designed for monitoring and analyzing protection and control events, dynamic power system disturbances and power quality.  They capture high speed transient faults and long-term disturbances through flexible triggering, continuous transient oscillography and long recording times. They can also provide real-time measurements over IEC 61850 and DNP3 protocols and can be used as Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs). So, how do you determine which of our fault recorders is the best fit for your application?

The TR-3000 is perfect for monitoring larger installations with multiple generators, incomers, busbars and feeders. Multiple units can be configured to operate as one large virtual recording system to cover the entire site.

The DR-300 is better suited for when a lower total number of channels are needed is also ideal when there is very limited panel space available. Their highly flexible architecture allows us to customize and provide the perfect solution for a wide range of applications, including monitoring Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and capturing performance of Inverter Based Resources (IBRs), such as solar and wind, under fluctuating voltage and frequency conditions.

To ensure your future needs are met with our units, many of the DR-300 features can be upgraded through additional licensing to match the TR-3000’s capabilities and functionality if you later decide you need to expand your DR-300’s performance.
