Have you ever experienced thermal creep, stress fractures, corrosion or EMF drift in your gas turbine thermocouple applications? If you have, you’re not alone! These common problems motivated AMETEK Power Instruments to engineer the new 8PT25 Spring/Non-Spring-Loaded Thermocouple. This thermocouple is part of a robust line of single and dual element designs that are made to withstand the most rugged environments.

Power Instruments’ thermocouple probes are designed to meet the required operation and performance requirements for OEM and replacement Industrial Gas Turbine applications. The 8PT25 is available in a cast iron or aluminum style connection head configuration to fit your application. Each thermocouple can withstand temperatures ranging from -20°C to 200°C (-4°F to 392°F) and is immersed directly into the turbine fluid to monitor temperature while in operation.

The 8PT25 is constructed with ½” MNPT threaded fitting that allows for easier installation and maintenance for new installs, retrofits or upgrades to any Industrial Gas Turbine engine. The seamless 316SS grade sheath material provides protection against all types of elements that can cause the sensor to fail during operation.

Some other features and benefits include:

  1. Connection heads that are ATEX certified and/or CSA/CE approved
  2. OEM qualified connection heads that are able to withstand normal and high temperature applications
  3. Threaded fitting that allows for quick installation/removal
  4. Designed life expectancy of 450 cycles (24,000 operating hours)
  5. Able to withstand rugged environmental conditions like dirt, sand, soot, oils and other fluids
