Do you utilize AMETEK Power Instruments’ JEMStar II High Accuracy Revenue Meter? If you do, then there may be some JEMWARE software settings and additional features you’re unaware of. We have a few tips and tricks for getting the most out of your meter based on your frequently asked questions.

User Set Up

When setting up users, user MV90 must have the two highlighted selections, ‘Set Time’ and ‘Freeze Registers’ checked off. It’s imperative for these options to be selected.

Custom Registration Numbers

JEMWARE II now gives you the option to create custom registration numbers outside of the standard 0-49 values. This option can be selected within JEMWARE II under ‘Display Setup’, which is located in ‘Meter Settings’. When the ‘Show Display Register ID’ option is selected (default is selected) the registers will list normally from 0-49. When deselected, you will have the option to code in a register value of your choosing by including it in the register name text field.

Ethernet Ports

Our JEMStar II comes with one (1) or two (2) ethernet ports with the default IP addresses as follows:

Ethernet 1 = 192.168.250.100

Ethernet 2 = 192.168.250.101

These default values should only be used as seen above. There are a few scenarios where incorrect ethernet values will cause communication issues, which you may be experiencing:

  1. Making both IP addresses the same
  2. Using ethernet 1’s default IP address for ethernet 2 or vice versa
  3. Programming anything ‘going on’ the same network with the default IP address even if you change ethernet 1 and ethernet 2’s IP address
  4. The only time 192.168.250.100 or 192.168.250.101 should be used anywhere on the network connected to the JEMStar II is in their default locations, outside of that they should be avoided

Suggested Km

The JEMStar II offers you a self-calculated pulse weight by clicking ‘Suggest Km’ in the ‘Load Profile’ settings selection under ‘Meter Settings’. This option is chosen when you are using counts to measure your load profile. The main concern when using counts is overflow because you are limited to 16,383 pulses per interval. Utilizing the ‘Suggest Km’ button eliminates the fear of overflow by using a primary configuration of 12,000 counts to calculate the most accurate pulse weight.
